Dover Winter Wonderland Carnival 6th December 2003
On Saturday the 6th December 2003 at 6pm was Dover's first Winter Wonderland Carnival (see picture above).
Hundreds of people lined the streets through the centre of town to see this Christmas event. The floats included the Mayor
and Dover Carnival Princesses, East Kent Morris Minor Club, A2B Cars, Jetsetters and many other amazing and interestingly
designed floats including the one and only Harry Potter making a special appearance.
We wish the Dover Winter Wonderland Carnival much success in the future and hope to see many more carnivals
by them.
A great night out for all the family!

Sunday 29th May 2005 - Hospital Radio Fundraiser
On Sunday 29th May a trio of brave men including Tony Cleaver (pictured left), Trevor Foster and James Bianchi
braved the weather and dressed up in lady's clothing. They raised £540 in doing so for the Gateway Hospital Broadcasting Service,
Dover & Deal's hospital radio. They also entered the Lady and Car competition and were the first men to do so in the 35
years the event had been going. This was at the Sellindge Steam Special at Sellindge between Ashford and Hythe. They
made the front page of the Dover Mercury dated 2nd June 2005. Tony Cleaver was dressed in 1960's lady's clothing to correspond
with his Morris Minor, Trevor Foster 1930s lady's clothing and James Bianchi as a 1960's hippie girl. Well done guys!

Dover Pageant 2005
At Dover College, 12th June 2005
2.30-5.00pm
The Dover Pageant took place in the grounds of the Dover College, formerly Dover's St Martin's
Priory. The event told the history of Dover through music, plays and reenactments from Henry VIII visiting the town to the
Bronze Age Boat and Roman Invasion. It also included musical pieces including 1920's dancing, Vera Lynn performing "White
Cliffs of Dover", The Beatles and Joss Stone as well as the Spice Girls pictured above. The last pageant was in 2003 and they
also raised this year £250 for the Girlguiding UK through a balloon race. The Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports Admiral Lord
Boyce was also in attendance enjoying the festivities and drawing the winner of a competition. A fab day out, more information
on the new Dover Pageant page and also online at www.doverpageant.com.
