Hi, Just a few corrections to some errors on your web site.
Firstly, you say that Spencer Cork
was part of the RSL broadcasts The Sound, Well he wasn't. Spencer Started when Neptune Radio first came into being.
Secondly,
you say that Neptune had 30,000 listeners a day. This figure is correct but it is in fact a WEEKLY figure, not daily.

-Martin Uxfield
Thanks Martin That has now been corrected and updated.

Hello Terry,
I have been reading with interest your website `Dover Soul' and the new Quality
of Life questionnaire. I was disappointed to see that there wasn't more information about BBC Radio Kent among your listing
of local radio stations. More information is available on our website www.bbc.co.uk/kent and I wonder whether you would consider
adding this link to your page.
Kind regards,
Robert Wallace Managing Editor BBC Radio Kent
Robert thanks for your message, a link to your site has been added and informaton about Radio Kent.

Q: What an interesting website - congratulations. I am hoping you can help me with the answer to
a quiz question: By what means did Jonathan Webb cross the channel in 1977? I can't find anything about his achievement so
would appreciate your assistance. Regards ceriwynne@aol.com
A: Jonathan Webb was the great grandson of Mathew Webb the
first person to swim the channel.
He was disqualified when it was found that he had been swimming on the spot, waiting
for the tide to go out and awaiting the earth's rotational effect to bring France to him.
When confronted with the evidence,
he admitted to being out of his depth and was drowned by a chorus of boos!
Answer supplied by Mike Webb, Town Centre manager
of Dover - Thanks Mike!
There's a new answer to the above question supplied by Ceri herself. She found out the answer
on a BBC website:
Hi Terry Please see attached news item. Apparently the answer is windsurfing. Jonathan Webb's feat was
not officially recognised as coastguards on either side of the channel were not notified of the attempt. Its been a fascinating
question. Thanks for your interest. Regards Ceri

Q: Hi Terry I write for the Planet Jive website - a newswire for rock'n'roll enthusiasts. We're doing
a feature on the fading profile of 1950s rock'n'roll on local radio.
I just came across your excellent history of local
radio in Kent. Do you happen to know when Barry Bethell's rock'n'roll show was discontinued on TLR and CTFM, and why? Was
it basically a casualty of the Kent Messenger takeover? How many years did his programme run on the commercial stations and
Radio Kent before that?
Thanks a lot if you can help with this.
Cheers
Ted Duggan Planet Jive www.planetjive.com
We've had an answer from Barry Bethell himself in the forum! Here was his reply:
Hi Ted
If you would really like
to know what happened to The Barry Bethell Rock 'n' Roll Club, and where it's going to next, give me a call on 01227 275663
during the week! Best regards
Barry "The Big Boppin' Bazza" Bethell
Have you any info on Alf Whiting crew of the Dover lifebaot about 40 years ago. I have 2 water colours
of his one of the varne light ship No 2 and another of the south goodwin No17 he did both for me 40 years ago Alf did live
up the London Road in Dover past the Union Road (now Coombe Valley Road). I did look on the life boat site . Many thanks John
Stopford.
Yes John, I have done some research and did contact the Lifeboat to no avail. After talking to my
nan it turn's out that Alf Whiting was the sister to her nan Rose Burwill (nee Whiting). Rose Burwill married John Thomas
Burwill otherwise known as Jack and Pop. See Family History Page. Alf done many nautical paintings and lived with his wife
Freda and mother up London Road in Dover. His mother may have had arthiritus. That is all that is known at the moment but
I am looking into this further and will keep you posted. - Terry, Editor
Terry,
Just seen you web site on Dover and it is very interesting. I have over the last
couple of years been researching my family history (which is still on-going) and from family memories I understand my Great
Grandfather was killed whilst building the Southern Breakwater. My employer (DHB) has not record of fatalities on this project
and I was wondering if you knew of any?
Thanks
John J. Huntley
Do you have any details on the above? If you do please post it on the forum or contact me via the "contact" link and
